It’s that time of year again. As a member of the NEMFCA Hall of Fame Nominating Committee, I am honored to introduce our first of 14 members of the NEMFCA Class of 2022 Hall of Fame.
My first salute goes to a longtime friend, Steve Borer, who is one of the finest human beings I have ever known. Steve is honored for his contributions as an 8-man football coach, but was also a terrific activities director at Seward High School for years and is now a familiar face at Pinnacle Bank Arena, volunteering his services to the NSAA during of the state basketball tournament. , among many other things.
You would have to look very far to find a more authentic individual than the great Steve Borer! And now we proudly present the NEMFCA Hall of Fame Biography of Mr. Borer;
COACH STEVE BORER – BRADY HIGH SCHOOL
For nearly 20 years, Steve served as head coach of the Eagles, where he went 76-68, made 2 playoff appearances and had nine of his players selected to the All-Star Game of Eight. men.

During this time, he was elected an NEMFCA officer and was honored as an assistant coach for the West All-Stars in 1998. Steve also served on several committees that worked successfully with the NSAA to increase the number of eight-man schools participating in the state playoffs.
Nonetheless, it was the literary efforts of Steve and assistant coach Doug Pearson that truly left his most indelible mark on our game. contacted several of his contemporaries in an effort to compile as much information as possible about Eight Man Football coaching.
The result of this effort became two separate books entitled “A Collection of the Best Vol. 1 and vol. 2”. These manuals provided invaluable diagrams and drills to help young and veteran coaches. This incredible resource has helped countless coaches better serve their players, teams, and communities who proudly play our game. Over the years, Coach Borer has devoted much effort to improving Nebraska 8-Man Football and for his contributions.
The NEMFCA is honored to welcome him to the Hall of Fame Class of 2022.
