Doha: For the first time in the Middle East and North Africa, Qatar University (QU) will host the 4th Congress of the World Association for Sports Management (WASM).
The three-day conference will start March 19-21, 2022. Professionals, students, academics and practitioners from all over the world will gather in Doha to share their knowledge, experiences and expertise on the global sports industry.
Commenting on the reception by Qatar of the international scientific and sporting event, the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Ahmed Al Emadi, said: âThis international conference is organized by the University of Qatar in cooperation with the Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and under the generous sponsorship of HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Committee. Over 150 sports management researchers are expected to participate, and its program includes a large number of seminars, workshops and research posters related to the topic of sports management. A large number of people interested in sports affairs are expected to attend the conference, especially since it will be held ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Doha.
At the time of writing, over 200 abstracts have been received for the 2022 conference.
This year’s theme is âBringing the World Together: Global and Local Perspectives on Sports Managementâ. The conference focuses on the practices, issues, networking, collaborations, management and marketing of global sports companies after the COVID-19 pandemic, which provides a platform for the international exchange of ideas, best practices and scientific surveys. With sport being a microcosm of our society, the conference will serve as a platform to advance research aimed at solving our critical challenges.
The exploration of themes will provide new perspectives and inspire inter and interdisciplinary, transnational and interregional collaborations that will inspire the future of sport management.
