Cummins (890) and Jamestown Bar Association/City Court (730) led the competition in the 34th annual battle of YMCA businesses in the major and minor divisions after women’s mini-golf and ax throwing events on Thursday.
SKF Aeroengine won first place against runner-up Frewsburg Central School for the big division at Pro Putt in Warren. Cummins finished in third place.
In the small division, Rachel Anderson, Judith Lindell, Sabrina Maring and Somer Osborne of Matco Tools ran the course for the 100-point victory. Rehab Specialists/CES and Trinity Biotech/Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union placed second and third, respectively.
At Panama Rocks Scenic Park’s Axcellent Adventures, Jamestown BPU topped the big division chart with first place. Ax throwers were Mike Dye, Zach Muntz, Keith Vanstrom and Ron Wasik with 72 points. Falconer Central Schools (58) and Cummins (56) took second and third place respectively.
In the small division, JBA’s Peter Franklin, Ren Perlee, Elliot Raimondo and Jeff Shevlin took the win with 46 throwing points, followed by Jamestown Macadam, Inc. (43) and Southern Tier Brewing/Distilling Co. (41) .
Today’s events at Richard O. Hartley Park in Lakewood include the 2-mile walk/run, corn hole, sailboat race, scavenger hunt, mystery event, talent show and the banner making contest. Participants are reminded to check the schedule for exact arrival times.
The battle is organized by the Jamestown Area YMCA and sponsored by BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York, Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union and Eventz by Scott.
