Carson City teacher recognized by Nevada Mining Association

David Lowe, a special education teacher at Fremont Elementary School in Carson City, was chosen by the Nevada Mining Association as one of 50 Silver State teachers to receive a $50 gift card during the teacher appreciation week.
The NVMA solicited nominations from community members for their favorite teachers, counselors and education professionals for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Nearly 500 nominations were submitted and 50 outstanding individuals were chosen to receive a total of $2,500.
Lowe was selected for his lifelong efforts to educate students with disabilities with care, compassion, patience and dedication, encouraging them to believe in themselves and know that they can achieve their goals and dreams with hard work.
“Our gift card giveaway is just a small way to say thank you to one-of-a-kind educators like Mr. Lowe, who nurture Nevada’s most precious resource, his children,” said NVMA President, Pull Gray. “Our mining community is a committed partner in education because it’s not only the right thing to do, but we’re also proud to call Nevada home and want the best for our people. teachers, our children and their future.”
NVMA’s Teacher Appreciation Week gift card giveaway is now in its third year and has provided a total of $7,500 to 150 teachers since its inception.
