the New Jersey State Bar Association hosted a CLE webinar, “Best Practices for Collecting and Defending Legal Fee Claims in Federal and State Court”, on September 29, hosted by Joel schneider, retired U.S. magistrate and lawyer at Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads. Speakers included Michael C. Zogby, partner and deputy head of Biddle & Reath, Faegre drinkerthe National Product Liability and Mass Crime Practice at Florham Park, and co-chair of the firm’s health and life sciences litigation team; Michael coren, partner of Cohen, Placitella & Roth in Philadelphia; Laura Mattiacci, partner of Mattiacci Law Console in Philadelphia and Moorestown; and Kenneth sharperson, partner of Weber Gallagher Simpson Stapleton Fires & Newby in Bedminster. Panelists discussed the benefits for lawyers and their clients of charging fees, and the laws that specifically provide for such awards. Speakers shared their knowledge and experiences in seeking and obtaining attorney fees, and provided perspectives from plaintiffs, the defense and the judiciary, the statement said.
